MAA is hosting a holiday bonfire on field #3 on Saturday, Dec 18 at 4pm. It will run until approx 7 pm or later depending on how long the fire burns. We’ll provide the hot fire and some hot chocolate. Bring your chairs, family, snacks, and your own hot beverages of choice too.
If you have any dry firewood you would like to contribute please contact Steve by sending an email to maaminiball@sbcglobal.net. We’re hoping to make this free community get together an annual get together for local families.
Stop by if you have a moment to enjoy the warm fire.
1. Baseball bats only for 8u and up. No softball, coach pitch, or tee ball bats will be allowed.
2. Softball bats ASA approved only for 8u and up softball. No baseball, coach pitch, or tee ball bats will be allowed. Any bat protest or bat checks must come from a manager. It is not the umpire’s responsibility to check bats unless asked to do so by a manager. If a bat is found to be illegal, that bat must be taken out of play immediately.
3. Mounds will be used for all baseball divisions 9u up. No metal spikes can be worn on portable mounds in the 13u – H.S. divisions.
4. no stealing will be allowed in all of 9u, 10u continental or 10u american divisions. Stealing will be allowed once you reach the 10u national division. This rule has been pushed up a year. The county feels that 9u pitchers pitching for the first time and now off mounds should not worry about base runners stealing. The county hopes this will make for better pitching and the ability to teach force outs on lead runners. The rule will read as follows in the rule book;
9U Special Rules
8.08.A Whenever a third strike is not legally caught be the catcher, the batter shall be declared automatically “out”.
8.08.B No base stealing is allowed. Base runners MUST hold the base until the ball is HIT or the runner is forced to advance. Penalty for violation – runner is declared OUT.
8.08.C Balks may be announced, but no penalty shall be assessed, no runner may advance and no out shall occur. If called, the umpire may indicate to the offender the purpose of the call.
8.08.D Five (5) run limit per half inning or three outs whichever comes first.
9u & 10u Special Rules
9.01 A courtesy runner (last out) may be used for a player that has been hit by pitch if necessary. The injured player may return to the game if able to play in the field or bat in their spot in the line up.
10U Special Rules
9.02 A Whenever a third strike is not legally caught be the catcher, the batter shall be declared automatically “out”. EXCEPTION: AAA/National level will play dropped third strike.
9.03 B No base stealing is allowed. Base runners MUST hold the base until the ball is HIT or the runner is forced to advance. Penalty for violation – runner is declared OUT. EXCEPTION: AAA/National level will allow stealing and lead offs of all bases.
9.04 C Balks may be announced, but no penalty shall be assessed, no runner may advance and no out shall occur. If called, the umpire may indicate to the offender the purpose of the call.
9.05 One (1) balk warning per pitcher
5. All of 14u division will play with 90′ bases and 60’6″ pitching. (used to be only 14u national).
It was voted down to require face masks in softball for 1b, 3b, and pitchers playing defense. The county felt while safety is a concern they will not tell girls that they have to wear masks for these 3 positions. It should be a manager/parent decision whether to require them or not.
Online 2011 baseball and softball registration will open for all teams and players on December 1, 2010.
To register you need to click the “orange box” on the home page of MAA’s web site (www.maapark.org). That will open a logon page. If you registered using the online system in 2010, enter your ID & password where indicated. If you didn’t use the system in 2010, you need to click on “Create New Account” on the bottom of the login page. After logon, click on “Register for Upcoming Sessions” & follow the instructions.
Please remember that you will need a credit or debit card (Visa or Mastercard only) to register. Fees for 2011 for 5U, 6U & 7U are $80.00 per player. All other age groups are $110.00.
You will also pick a concession work duty day when you register your child. Concession duties are one 5 or so hour shift working in the concession stand per child registered. If you do not want to work the concession stand, you have the option of “buying out” of the duty for a fee of $100.00 per family. One buyout fee applies to all children registered by a family. Buying out of concession duty MUST be done at the time of registration. Please remember that work dates & buyouts CANNOT BE CHANGED once you have made your selections.
Please note that for the 2011 season if your original concession work date is rained out, you will be rescheduled for a make-up date. If you do not want to work the make-up date, you may buy out of that date ONLY for $50.00.
If any questions about the Registration process ONLY, contact Greg Brandt at maapark_greg@yahoo.com. For questions about leagues, teams, players, etc please contact the Coordinator for your age group. Their contact info is posted on the home page of the MAA web site.
